It is six in the afternoon and four men in their 20s are gathered in a “study” room in Suwon in Gyeonggi Province that measures no more than 3.3 square meters.
All of them, under the instruction of the 29-year-old Kwak Hyun-ho, appear completely focused as to make sure that nothing slips by them.
Kwak is what is commonly known as a pickup artist. He tells you how to approach women and how to have a good time, all at a good price.
Following the instructions, it is time for practical application and they move on to a night club where he tells his “students” to make comments about certain aspects of women they approach to make themselves more appealing.
On the first try, one of the students, a 31-year-old Min, was able to hold hands with a partner and walk of the club. What happened after that is a mystery and for only two people to know.
These lessons do not come cheap. People who know these operations say that they can cost up to 1 million won ($900) with commissions varying by what is achieved as a result.
Kwak reportedly makes more than 100 million won ($90,000) a year from providing these lessons and services which include not only picking women up but how they engage in sex.
